Don Mathewson bears an uncanny resemblance to Janus, the Roman god of gateways and beginnings.
That's no accident. Don is actually a god of gateways and beginnings in physical science.
Founder and organizer of the Kwantlen Science Challenge, he loves to send students and teachers alike, on exciting new journeys into the world of physics.
Don has taught Physics and Math at high school and college for the past twenty years. The theme of all of his sessions is: learn to love physical science.
"I present activities, demos and notes to help you understand more deeply the principles of physical science, and to help you teach physics concepts to your classes," says Don. "My goal is to help both you and your students enjoy physical science."
In
his session at this years' BC Science Institute, Don will help you learn to love the Science10 Motion unit, sharing his ideas for motion labs, including his thoughts on why labs are vitally important, and what makes a good lab program.
